SPRING 2026: CANDIE

This year has already shaped it’s way to be one that will not be forgotten. Whether in a good or bad way, it is a time I will look back on and hopefully be able to smile and reconcile with it. As of this moment, it is about writing the Eat These Spring update. Eat These is something I am going to continue doing, maybe not in the way it originally seemed but there are still many kinks to be worked out. We’re in the clouds right now, and now it’s time to get down to the crust, or rather the nitty-gritty.

The beater kit in bits and pieces

I always forget about this. The website, the label, the socials, I’m almost never thinking it. That’s something I’d like to change, and get better at. But for what? Or what for? WHY am I even doing this? To bury myself in a bigger hole financially? Sadly, money is always, and will likely be forever, the bane of my existence. Being hungry for money is the #1 trope for most of these people that I DESPISE. Not saying that having money is bad, but milking it is another. Then why is it something I am worried about? Unfortunately, money makes the world go round, and is such a strange concept. Why can’t we go service for service, instead of $20? Feels lazy to me. Money rant over.

Merchandise is something I’ve been thinking about. A regularly available “SLAM” shirt on here would be pretty neat, available to ship to whoever would like it. I would love to do all sorts of different colors but am not sure how realistic that could be. I mean, I don’t even know what I’m doing, or who is choosing to support this project, but thank you if you are. It is saving my well-being.

I’m gonna go ham for a second and talk about drums. This will not be interesting for most of you, sorry.

I recently sold the “Money Muscles” Green 2001 Tama Starclassic that was at the Sewerslide space, for a decent chunk of change that got me back on my feet feeling stable for the first time in months. Selling that kit has inspired me to basically rip apart some of my other kits and completely rebuild them. I’m not talking just hoops and heads, I’m talking the WHOLE kit. I have a 70s White Marine Pearl Ludwig kit (also from the Sewerslide space) that has been being used to part together other kits. The rack toms do not match the kick and floor, hell the kick doesn’t even have a badge on it. But edges are cracked, and overall the kit has definitely seen better days. The idea is to completely refurbish this kit back to it’s original playing condition, and has a ton of work that needs to be put into it. For the beater shells, they will be my test subjects while learning how to properly edge a drum, rewrap it, and all the proper maintence that needs to go into it. I would love to wrap the beater a dark sparkly purple, with all gold hardware. The biggest eyesore of all time. It sounds so sick. I want it so bad. I have to make it with my own hands though, and that will be the greatest satisfaction of all. Is that I chopped these pieces of wood, sanded them, drilled and wrapped them to become my purple beast. Gets me so amped.

That is all for this seasonal update. I hit none of the important points that I tried to last time……whatever.

Love your friends.
