EAT-001
UNdissassembled -…so assembled?
So… Assembled? is technically not the first Undissassembled release, nor the first thing I ever recorded and mixed, but it is the first Eat These release. Racking in at a surprising 16-track debut album, the album doesn’t run longer than 30 minutes. Recorded in Jack’s basement by running microphones through our practice mixer into Audacity for a single stereo recording track.
While none of it was tracked as a full live band, the process began with recording isolated drums, followed by bass, guitar, and vocals. It didn’t take longer than a week to record the album.
I had to now “mix” this entire album on Audacity. With not much free time already, I ended up mixing during school, skipping English to mix on earbuds sitting in the hallway. Not the greatest idea in hindsight, but I think this was when my audio production bubble burst, and I wanted to improve and learn about the craft. That’s why So… Assembled is EAT-001.
Then we were just dipping our toes into our DIY crafts that we continue to do to this day. After several years of failed stencil making, we finally had our first strategy for making shirts. Along with shirts, we made CDs for this release, with Tyler burning the CDs and getting insert prints from FedEx.
